    FAQ

Therapy is a vulnerable experience.  It is important you find someone who you feel will understand you throughout your healing process.  You are allowed to contact several therapists before choosing who is the best fit.  Feel free to ask the therapist if they specialize in the issues you are addressing.  To help support this process, I offer free 15 minute consultations.

The terms counselor and therapist are often used interchangeably when it comes to mental health.  A counselor takes a holistic approach towards healing; focusing on your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health.  A psychologist usually has more training in research, evaluations, and performing assessments.  Sometimes psychologists provide counseling services as well.  A psychiatrist is a doctor that prescribes psychotropic medication.  Some psychiatrists also provide counseling services.

For your counseling, it is essential that you see someone who is licensed or registered under the State of Florida working towards full licensure.  As licensed professionals, we are held to a high ethical standard and are held accountable.

The duration of therapy depends on the person and the issues we are addressing.  During the first session, we are able to discuss your specific needs and see what will work best for you.  We take into account scheduling, finances, etc. when making these decisions.  Some people attend therapy during a season while others attend for years.  Counseling lasts as long as you need and you are in charge of your healing process.

Initial intake appointments are $160. All follow-up appointments are $140. Sessions last 50 minutes. I work on a limited sliding scale which can be discussed during the first appointment.

I do not take insurance.  I can provide a superbill for you to submit directly to your insurance, and depending on your plan you may be able to receive reimbursement.

Absolutely.  I can work with anyone in the state of Florida through telemental health.  We will meet on a HIPPA-compliant video chat platform for our sessions.
